The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won gubernatorial elections in Kwara. Yobe and Gombe states in the March 18 governorship results so far announced.
In Kwara State, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq won his re-election bid, polling 273,424 votes to beat his closest rival, Alhaji Yaman Abdullahi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who got 155,490 votes, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said.He won in all the 16 local government areas of the state announced by the INEC returning officer, who is also Vice-Chancellor of the University of Markurdi, Benue State, Professor Isaac Itodo.
In Yobe State, former Caretaker Chairman of the APC and incumbent governor, Mai Mai Buni, won his re-election bid, triumphing in all 17 local government areas (LGA) in the state.
Buni got 317,113 votes to beat his closest rival, Sheriff Abdullahi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 104,259, according to state returning officer, Prof Umar Pate.
In Gombe, Governor, Inuwa Yahaya of the APC also emerged victorious in the gubernatorial election in his state. The returning officer for the election and Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Gashua, Yobe State, Professor Maimuna Waziri, said Inuwa got a total of 342,821 votes to defeat his closest rival and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mohammed Barde, who had 233,131 votes.
The candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Khamisu Mailantarki, scored 19, 861 to finish a distant third.
