Transparency International has released its latest Corruption Perception Index for 2021. According to its details, Nigeria ranks 154 out of the 180 countries ranked.
Nigeria has continued to borrow money to fund its budgets, the 2022 budget, and the country does not plan to stop borrowing soon, as details on its Medium Term Expenditure Framework show that between 2022 and 2024, the country will borrow N14.8 trillion.
It was also stated that the situation persisted in 2018, with the agency receiving a mere 2% of its budget, as only 28 million naira of the 2 billion naira budgeted was released.”
The same shortfall in total revenue in 2022 occurred in 2021. Although an N8.4 trillion revenue was projected for that year, only N6.3 trillion was realised.
However, the World Bank has agreed to act as administrator for at least four initial years. Additionally, nations that should pay in have been named, including the US, UK and EU. These wealthiest nations will be “urged” to contribute their fair share, while rapidly developing nations with major economies, like China, will be “encouraged” to pay in. There is not yet a set target for how much should be provided and by when.
The PWC applauded the depth of work done and the importance of these works to the Nigerian societal realities.

Dataphyte visited Kofawe Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Ondo State to investigate the state of services and facilities.
