Nigerians have converged at different INEC local government centers as the electoral umpire commences result collation for presidential, senatorial, and House of Representatives elections at the local government level.
Already, election results obtained by the Dataphyte Elections team show that some local government areas’ results have been announced, with more areas expected to be announced in the coming hours.
A review of the INEC results viewing portal shows that about 18,000 polling unit results have been uploaded as of the time of this report.
A Twitter user @Chude_ shared how some Nigerians stayed at the collation centers at 5 a.m. this morning.
Other Nigerians also narrated how they keep a close watch on the results to ensure transparency.
The INEC has assured Nigerians to ensure that their votes count, although issues of violence and allegations of foul play have trailed this promise.
The election was expected to have taken place in 774 local government areas, although some local government areas’ elections will be continued today due to issues of insecurity and logistics.
Results announced so far show that the presidential election has been keenly contested between the top three candidates of the Labour Party, the People’s Democratic Party, and the All Progressives Congress.
INEC has failed to live up to its promise of uploading results on its paortal, fuelling suspicion of election rigging, which the new technology was mwant to fix.
