#ChartoftheDay: Beneficiaries by State of Nigeria’s Conditional Cash Transfer in 2020

The Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program benefited 784,176 people in 2020, according to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development. Beneficiaries are spread across 24 of Nigeria’s 36 states. Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Bayelsa, Delta, Borno, Edo, Lagos, Ogun, Zamfara, Ondo, and Kebbi were among the states that did not benefit from the program.

Residence Tax: Are Lagos and FCT Robbing Their Neighbours?

Personal Income Tax (PIT) or residency tax remains the primary source of income for state governments. This source forms most of the state governments’ revenue annually. In five and a half years (2016 to half-year 2021), out of the N5.964 trillion generated, PIT summed up to N2.833 trillion, making up 47.5% of the figure.

Nigeria’s Foreign Trade Increased by 10.43% Between Q2 and Q3 2021, Imports Continue to Take the Cake

The foreign trade statistics report released by the National Bureau of Statistics in December shows that there is a 1% increase in exported goods between Q2 2021 and Q3 2021 and a 10.43% increase in total trade. Q2 2021 saw a total import estimated at 8.2 trillion and the total export trade was 5.1 trillion. In Q3 total export trade was 5.13 trillion and 8.15 trillion goods were imported in the Q3. The Q3 export figures show a 1% increase in export trade of the country.
